החורף הירושלמי בא והולך, אבל התוכניות של אב"י (אופניים בשביל ירושלים) רק הולכות ומתרבות. אז מלבד קידום שבילים ברחבי כל העיר ושאר תשתיות אופניים, הפעם נתמקד ביוזמה של תושבים לגבי דרך חברון – ובמאבק להוספת פארק ושבילי אופניים ברחוב, לצד מיתון תנועה.
לפי תכנית האב לאופניים בעיר, דרך חברון היא נתיב מרכזי לחיבור בין שכונות העיר. אבל במצב הקיים אין שום שביל ברחוב, ופחד אלוהים לרכב שם. ובתכנון? השבילים שם עדיין לוקים בחסר, בואו נגיד. ואת זה הגיע הזמן לשנות.
אז כמדי חודש, נצא לרכיבה המונית שבה נראה כמה טוב יהיה בעיר ברגע שיחליטו לתת מקום ראוי לרוכבים ולהולכי הרגל. כמובן שנעשה הרבה כיף כמו תמיד.
נתכנס בעירייה בשעה 10:00 לרכיבה משותפת שבסופה נשב לאכול משהו*, עוגה, לשתות בירה ולדבר איך אפשר להמשיך להיאבק למען עיר טובה יותר.
הרכיבה עצמה היא כשעה, מוזמנים להצטרף בכל שלב או ישר לבירה בסוף

* הרכיבה בקצב נוח ושווה לכל רגל. לא צריך להיות בכושר עילאי או להביא אופניים של מקצוענים. מדובר ברכיבה קבוצתית על הכביש, שם כולנו שומרות אחת על השני.
* למי ששואל\ת – הכול חוקי ואין צורך באישור מהמשטרה. אנחנו שומרים על חוקי התנועה.

The Jerusalem winter is coming and going, but the plans of AVI (Bicycles for Jerusalem) are only growing. So apart from promoting bike paths throughout the city and other bicycle infrastructure needs, this time we will focus on residents' initiative regarding the Hebron Road – and the fight to add a park and bike paths alongside a slimmer inner city road.
According to the research from the Master plan for bicycles in the city, the Hebron Road is a major route for connecting the city's neighbourhoods. But currently, there is no bike path along the road, rather a fear for your lives while biking there. And the plan for the renovation? The bike path is still missing. It's time to change.
So like every month, we will go for a critical mass ride where we will show how good it will be in the city once they decide to give a proper place to the cyclists and pedestrians. Of course, we will have a lot of fun as always.
We will gather at the municipality at 10:00 for a communal ride at the end of which we will sit down to eat something *, a cake, drink a beer and talk about how we can continue to fight for a better city.
The ride itself is about an hour, feel free to join at any stage or straight to the capital at the end

* Our goal is to have fun and being seen. Feel free to bring whistles, bells, lights, costumes, and if you have amplification: Music!
* Riding at a comfortable and uniform pace. You do not have to be in top shape or bring a professional bike. This is a communal ride on the road, where we all protect each other.
* For those who ask – everything is legal and there is no need for approval from the police. We abide by traffic laws.
* The rides are part of a critical mass movement that take place every month in hundreds of cities around the world. This is a movement without leadership, and anyone who wants to participate in the riding organisation is very welcome!
